What do we do?

It is not the views of individual councillors or even the Community Council that count. We seek the collective, balanced, harmonised view of the community on issues that affect us.

We comment on planning applications where the local community requires a collective voice.

We ensure that local people know how to raise local issues about road closures and safety concerns, lighting, police matters, litter, transport, visitor management/tourism issues, etc with the relevant authorities.

We liaise with statutory bodies, PKC Councillors (Mike Willamson, Xander McDade and John Duff) and organisations such as Forestry Land Scotland

We hold regular public meetings so you can attend, speak and work with us to support our community.

We consult and inform residents about matters affecting the area and seek your views before forming positions.

What we don’t do…….

We don't make binding decisions. We are a consultative body that can influence decisions but the legal power rests with other authorities.

We don't approve or refuse planning permission. That power belongs to the planning authority.

We don't report problems to relevant authorities that are best reported by you (e.g. potholes, street lighting, etc). We can help point you in the right direction if you’re having difficulties.

We don't spend money or fund local projects. We receive very limited funding to cover meeting venues and admin costs, etc. Any funds we receive are publicly accounted for. We are transparent, accountable and open to all.

We don't represent party political interests. We are non-political and independent.
